About Me
I began my teaching career as a substitute in the suburbs, and then moved to North Carolina where I taught high school English for a couple of years before relocating back to Chicago. While my children were young, I was lucky enough to stay home with them. I returned to the high school classroom, then moved to a 7th grade classroom before landing at Lenart. School year 2022/23 marks the start of my seventh year at Lenart.
I earned my Master of Education in Language, Literacy & Specialized Instruction from DePaul University, which just means that I am a certified Reading Specialist. I also graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's in Journalism and from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor's in English. And, then I earned my special education endorsement (LBS1) from Chicago State University.
I am looking forward to sharing my love of reading, writing, questioning, and exploring with my students. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out my family, riding bikes, gardening, reading, and currently, learning to cook gluten-free for one of my kids, who has celiac.
